Shearling is a skin from a recently shorn sheep or lamb that has been tanned, dressed with the wool left on, and then sewn together. The suede side of shearling usually faces outward.
The real one is breathing, flexible and heavy in weight; synthetic sherpa fur is much lighter but less breathable than its natural counterpart. The outer face of a synthetic or fake shearling has a bit of a sheen, whereas the outer hide of real shearling is dull and tacky to the touch. Genuine shearling is also smoother than synthetic varieties.
What is Shearling Coats?
As a fashion lover, I am always looking for new things to add to my wardrobe. A few months ago, I stumbled upon shearling coats. I’m sure you’ve seen these coats before. Sweet and luxurious looking, they have become one of the most popular types of outerwear. These coats refer to a kind of soft, natural fleece found on sheepskins.
More than just a fashionable touch of elegance, these coats possess an exceptionally warm and soft inner lining. Shearling coats are made from processed lambskin, sheepskin, or pelt. This process creates a uniform depth of the wool fibers for a uniform feel and look. These coats and garments are made from pelts by tanning them with wool of uniform depth still on them. The result is a soft, natural fleece material that is heavy due to the thickness of the outer skin and the degree of fur on the inside which is quite dense. The length of the sheep fur can be fairly long but it is typically cropped short to about five centimeters or two inches. Most people find these coats to be extremely comfortable and warm. Due to the high quality and uniqueness of these coats are considered luxurious.
Shearling coats, garments, and accessories are a staple in the fashion world! They offer warmth without sacrificing style. Sheepskin coats are one of those wardrobe staples everyone wants to have—they’re just that good!
